And I mean, that could be very profitable as players perhaps cannot resist the siren’s song of gem drops and dump a lot of money into the game. Right now, Blizzard seems content to ride out the storm. Diablo Immortal is doing them no favors in the PR department, and the same goes for their silence/defenses of the issues brought up post-launch. And this is Blizzard’s first new game since 2016’s Overwatch, where over that time, their reputation has been badly damaged, first by slowed support for pretty much all their titles, then for the mistreatment of their female employees which resulted in mass departures and some horrific revelations. This has in part lead to even greater disappointment that Diablo Immortal is next in line, although Diablo 4 is undoubtedly still on the way. The game was met with a largely negative reaction after being announced at the 2018 BlizzCon convention, spawning the Do You Guys Not Have Phones meme. Unfortunately for Diablo Immortal, the clamour for a Diablo 4 announcement has been high, even though Blizzard dismissed the possibility of the sequel being announced at Blizzcon 2018. One look at some of the worst examples of mobile games based on existing franchises, such as EA's Dungeon Keeper Mobile and Theme Park Mobile, shows that a big name can be used to shovel in terrible pay-to-win tactics. For a long time, video game fans have been wary of mobile games based on beloved properties, and sometimes this caution has been justified. published 10 June 2022 That's 10 million downloads and counting for Blizzard's new game Comments (Image credit: Blizzard) Diablo Immortal has defied its microtransaction-laiden image to. ![]()
